Congratulations

This year’s Salute to Education recipient is Clare Waterloo. We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated
parent here at Franklin. Clare was honored on Friday, April 13th at the Salute to Education event at the Rock Wall
winery.

CONGRATULATIONS to Briana St. Denis and Dylan Aubrejuan for receiving the Delta Zeta Chapter of the Delta
Kappa Gamma Society Fifth Grade Citizenship Award! These two students were nominated, in part, for being
respectful, a positive role model an organizer, leader, a team player, and enjoy a good relationship with her/his
peers. The students were honored at an awards ceremony on April 18th, held at Paden School where each
received a certificate of commendation and a savings bond.

A Message From Your Principal

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Franklin’s new drop off and pick up procedure started this week. Thank you to all of the Franklin families who
have followed the new procedures making drop off and pick up safer for everyone. If you have not had the
opportunity to review the new drop off and pick up policy, you can pick up a flyer in the front office. The flyer
explains the policy and provides a map detailing the drop-off procedure.
New rules include:
• The Paru St. Entrance is to be used only by pedestrians and bikers. Parents driving their children to
school may not drop them at the Paru St. Gate.
• Parents driving to school must either find a legal parking spot and walk their kids onto campus or use the
white-curbed loading zone on San Antonio Ave. Volunteers in yellow vests will open your car doors to let
children out safely at the loading zone, and watch to make certain they walk into the school building.
• No-double parking.
• No illegal U-turns.
• Please use crosswalks. No jay-walking in the middle of Paru St. or San Antonio Ave.
We are recruiting parent volunteers for assisting on the Franklin Traffic Safety Committee. Please give your name
to Pat Wootten in the front office, if you are interested in participating in the program. Remember...Safety First!

From the Principal

Now that warmer days are upon us, please keep in mind that walking shorts are acceptable, but short-shorts, tank
tops, and halter-tops are not. Dress should accommodate comfort and safety. Heels, backless sandals, flip flops,
and mini-skirts are not suitable. Physical education is part of the curriculum and appropriate, safe shoes are
encouraged. Clothing which distracts from instruction should not be worn at school. Thank you for your
cooperation in this matter. Jo Fetterly.
